  Pelham House
St Andrews Lane, BN7 1UW | No. of rooms: 23

The two main owners have been the Pelham and the Goring families and the building has been tastefully restored to create a stylish conference centre and hotel combining elegance, history and contemporary design. Pelham House has currently 23 bedrooms [extending to 30 plus in phase 2] and there are up to 12 meeting rooms. All our meeting rooms are flexible and can accommodate from 10 to 150 delegates in a variety of styles. Set in the heart of historic Lewes, with plenty of restaurants, art galleries and shops all within a short walk, there are fast train and road links to London and Gatwick airport and Brighton is just 10 minutes away. Lewes is an old county town that is steeped in history. John Harvard, founder of Harvard University, spent time here as did William Penn and even Buffalo Bill played to local audiences. Tom Paine who was a one-time neighbour to Pelham House, wrote 'The Rights of Man', played a key part in the French revolution and then went on to co-author the American Declaration of Independence. The Ann of Cleaves House is well worth a visit.
